WHO NEEDS IPMX?

The professional audiovisual industry needs a truly open AV over IP standard that benefits everyone. An accepted standard developed through a rigorous process will ensure that the technology is complete, correct, and simple. IPMX is based on the proven SMPTE ST 2110 standard deployed throughout broadcast but adapted specifically for pro AV needs, with the addition of HDCP copy protection, network discovery and registration, and I/O management, including multichannel surround sound. IPMX is simple to deploy, requiring only basic networking equipment; scales, supporting any bitrate with compressed or uncompressed streams; and is video format-agnostic.

WHO IS BEHIND IPMX?

IPMX originated from the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS). IPMX’s development is a collaboration between AIMS and the Joint Taskforce on Network Media (JT-NM), which is a federation of organizations that includes The Video Services Forum (VSF), the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and SMPTE. Each of these organizations is an independent non-profit, without any commercial association to any vendor. Each organization is committed to the work of open standards that are available to everyone at low or no cost, whenever possible. In this way, you can be sure that IPMX will remain free and open to all that wish to use the technology.
